Finally a New Post! Woo!

Helllo everyone! I haven’t posted in a week & I’ve missed you alll!!! But I’ve been sooo busy with the first week of classes and practices etc. Unfortunately, I KNOW that i won’t be able to post daily anymore (at least during the semester!) :(… but I’ll try to get on here as much as possible to check out everyone else’s lovely blogs and keep you all updated on my life! This past weekend, I went to the first over night meet of the season and it was a lot of fun, and since I’ve been Icing my knee like CRAZY, It wasn’t horrible at all, and I ended up PRing even though my knee isn’t 100% so I was happy :).

Unfortunately, My camera charger is currently MIA so I won’t have any new pictures until I find that little suckerrr :/

BUT I do have a full day of eats from the other day, so here we goooo>>>>>

Breakfast Started off in my pretty new bowl 🙂

Nanner Oats and Walnuts

I added cottage cheese in my oats! So delicious (had it this morning with cottage cheese +pumpkin… SO GOOD!)
This was 3/4Cup Oats, 2 Cups Water (started adding more water- much better and volume-ous!!), banana, AB, flax&wheatgerm

Lunch was a DELICIOUS Multi-Grain Bagel with Turkey, Lettuce, and Tomato with Balsamic Vinegar:

I also made HUMMUS!

Before: The Preparation

(Mixed Chickpeas, lots of cumin, a little olive Oil, and BAM!

After: Carrots and Hummus Prepared on my other new pretty plate

PRE- Practice Snackeroni was an apple with TJ’s Flax Crackers:

Practice was the 1/2 Hour Typical Drill-Warmup, and since my knee had been hurting, I did the work out on the bike for another 1/2 hour:
52 seconds hard, 1 1/2 minutes slower paced biking, 35 seconds hard, 3 minutes slower paced, repeated 5 times… it took like 26 minutes, and I was sweatinnn… It was a good tempo day… and I enjoyed this baby afterward:

This flavor unfortunately wasn’t as good as i remember it :(… The Chocolate Peppermint stick LUNA still has my heart <3…

Another Snack Post-Practice:

looked cool in the toaster and thought I'd take a pic...

Some Yogurt and Protein cookie dough-ish ness with PB

DinDin included

Dining Hall Veggies!!! Yummm.....

In my attempt to avoid the dining hall I just got the above veggies and had some eggs I still had in my fridge for dinner…

Cottage Cheese Eggs!!!!!

I added Mushrooms and Cottage Cheese(amazing!)- It made them so much creamier and better!!! I’ll definitely have to keep adding it to my eggs (extra protein!?!…ask me if i mind it!!)

About an hour later I tried a pomelo for the first time!!!

Unfortunately, not really a fan :/… I’m a grapefruit girl, myself.. and the skin on this baby was way too thick for my liking…

Look how thick the outer shell is!

Andd another snack (clearly, I like snacks :))

pretty bowl makes its appearance again!

I had some Plain Oikos with Pumpkin, cinnamon, and TJ’s Pumpkin Granola! Delishhh

I don’t think I’ve done a full day of food in a whileee so I was happy to include that AND my workout, even though it didn’t have any lifting in it… but still! Like I said before, My camera charger is hiding somewhere so until I find it, I certainly won’t be able to post… but thanks for whoever read this for not forgetting about me! Haha! And Hopefully soon, I’ll be able to have another day of food posts :), it’s just sooo hard with school/track… I give everyone who does it with school and everything mucho PROPS!

Can’t wait to read all your lovely blogs while I make myself some lunch! Have a wonderful Sunday everybody!!

On a New Path…

Hello Everyone!! 🙂
Classes have officially begun today! On Mondays and Fridays I only have one class at 9:40- Nutrition!! I just got into it last night, after totally deciding to completely re-do my schedule!! I had an epiphany yesterday- I decided that I’m gonna GO FOR IT and lean towards Nutrition as a major/ area of interest (as opposed to a Guidance counseling/English major.) I enjoy it too much, and just have to suck it up and take the science classes I have been dreading. My school doesn’t have a nutrition program, but I’ll just get my undergrad in Human Development, like I had been planning, and go to Grad school for Nutrition/Sports Nutrition/Body Image Interest. Wait, so do I have a set PLAN?!?!?? woooooo!… I decided I would regret not trying it… if all else fails & I decide its not my thangg, I can go back to the original plan (guidance counseling, etc.)- but for now, I feel like this is the BEST OPTION for me.

Anyways, In Nutrition class, we did introductions and went over the syllabus… the usual… and in the syllabus, my teacher (who is superrr nice, btw!) Emphasized this statement I’m gonna share with you:

“The foods you eat are secondary to all the other things that feed you—your relationships, career, spirituality, and exercise routine. Those are the things we call primary foods. All that we consider today as nutrition is really just a secondary source of energy. We hunger for play, touch, romance, intimacy, love, achievement, success, art, music, self-expression, leadership, excitement, adventure and spirituality. All of these elements are essential forms of nourishment. The extent to which we are able to incorporate them determines how enjoyable and worthwhile our lives feel.” (Taken from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.)

I found this quote SO INSIGHTFUL and interesting… What do you guys think? Do you think the food you eat is primary or secondary?? Please answer this- I’m really interested in what you all have to say about this. I think that this is the HEALTHY relationship we all yearn for, but being so interested in food/body, it seems as though it has become a primary form of nourishment: but in the quest to be healthy- when does it become UNHEALTHY? (sorry to go all philosophical on you guys!!) But I thought this was important to bring up and I really want to know what you guys think!

So yes, enough with this and on to food :)… In the past couple days I’ve been living off EGGS. Seriously, the most amazing food, really. They are so yummy and good for you! Oh, and I’ve discovered the art of MICROWAVING eggs (never did it before until 2 weeks ago!) I usually have 1 egg and add whites, or 2… I eat enough oatmeal, so I don’t think I’ll have to worry about my cholesterol 😉 hahah

Here are a couple of EGG Creations I’ve enjoyed>>>>>>>>

Thomas’s Bagel with Eggs, Spinach, and Laughing Cow (new Eggy addition):

Scrambled (take out of microwave every 30 sec. to beat) with Sweet Potatoes and Spinach (Last Night’s dindin) :

Egg “Patty” (the way it’s microwaved looks patty-like… even though I hate that word!) with spinach (clearly trying to use up the frozen spinach!) and mushrooms with WHITE sweet potatoes- first time I’ve tried them!- Sticking with the ol’ fashion sweet potatoes though!

OF course I have to show you the grocery shopping I did yesterday:

And my Color coordinated organization of fruit! HA!

Don't lie and tell me that's not cool

Tomorrow I will finally have a whole day of food… I hope! (Depends how I do dinner, since it will be the first meal in the Dining Hall… dun dun dunnnn!) Have a good Monday everybody! 🙂

Track Meet Eats

Hey Everyone! Happy Saturday:) I hope everyone’s having a great weekend! As I said in my last post, yesterday I had a track meet the NYC Armory, basically it’s the place to be for indoor track meets. Personally, I didn’t do so hot… I Fouled All 3 of my Triple Jumps :/. I think it’s because I was babying my knee a lot. My coach said to take a little time off doing exercise bike and swim stuff because Conferences is really what matters.. but i want to be okay to jump this weekend, but I honestly don’t know if that’s even an option :(…

Anyway, today I decided to show you all how I fuel DURING a track meet (the name of this blog is called Snacks and Field so it makes sense!) The following is basically a schedule (including foood!!!) of my whole day, Enjoy!>>>>

Woke up at 6:15 (5 hours of sleep- wooo!)
Packed all this food for the meet:

Meet Eats: Gatorade (drank 1/2), carrots, PB&J, Dark Chocolate Truffle(didn't eat), 2 Nature Valley Bars (ate 1), Pretzel Crisps, Thomas's Whole Wheat Bagel, Trail Mix(Craisins, Walnuts, TJ's Dark Choco Raisins, Orange (didn't eat), Apple, and Banana Nut Clif Bar

I also drank a lot of water but it’s hard to document at a track meet.

7:15 Went down to Catch the bus at 7:30 & Ate some Breakfast
: 1 Cup Oatmeal (yessss- LOVE track meet Oats), 1/2 Cup Pumpkin, 2 Cups Milk, 2 TBSP Almond Butter, Banana, Cinnamon, Vanilla

Packed in Tupperware for the busride 🙂

This was one of the best “bowls” of Oatmeal I’ve had in a while… It had some time to cool and legit tasted like pumpkin pie… soo good!

We then had a 3 hour (a little more…) bus ride to the city… After I finished my oats, I attempted to sleep while listening to my iPod but it really didn’t work too well.

10:45- Arrived at the Armory and Snacked Out HARD for the first time
At track meets, I tend to get EXTRA anxious and nervous (makes sense, right?), so regardless my huge amount of oatmeal in the morning, I was hungry when we got to the meet

I then went exploring and went into the Hall of Fame. There was an awesome wall with nutrition information for athletes and I decided to take pictures for you guys… There is a lot of really interesting info>>>
(If you can’t read them, click on them to see them closer)

About an hour later, I had another huge Snack Attack, I’m serious these meet days are bottomless pit days… I once read somewhere that you burn more calories while THINKING about exercise, than just thinking about something else… Do you think thats true? I wouldn’t be surprised: I think about jumping all day and get super hungry… But then again, the nervous thing can definitely come into play so that makes a little more sense, but who knows!?

I then took pictures of a lot of my teammates running/ jumping, and on my way back up to go sit, I realized that I’m not as ORIGINAL as I thought I was:

AHHHH! The concession stand at the armory is called “Snack & Field”… really!??! Go fig, I guess other trackies have the same pun- inspired sense of humor that I do!

Then I had a pre-competition Lunch around 2:00 (ate too much bad idea for my warm up), I ate so much because I’m used to Long jumping which normally comes before Triple, but since I only did 1 event, I had more time to kill and more food to eat!

I then ran and warmed up and got my steps down and what not. My knee was annoying during but it wasn’t too bad. But by the time I was done with all 3 of my jumps, I was frustrated and ready to ice. I grabbed an ice bag from the trainer around 5:00, and ate a Clif Bar, and changed.

By 7:00- Starvation hit me, and I went to go get some Indian Food

Tandoori Chicken, Lentils, and Channa Masala over rice…I ate about 1/2 of this and had the HUGEST STOMACH ACHE EVER. It was horrible. I think it’s because I ate wayyy to fast because I was hungry, and the chicken wasn’t that good (lots of fat and bones). So I took a break, and finished it, with an even bigger stomach ache: I am so stubborn- I had to conquer it! Do you ever feel the NEED to finish something even though your stomach hurts/ you know you feel super full arleady? I do it a lot… bad habit! haha

Oh, but I didn’t eat the rice, though. Instead, I had this:

Hey, maybe Sara (and your awesome knowledge of Indian-ness) can help me figure out what this bread stuff is called- It is whole wheat, and they cook a dough blob like sideways and it heats up and forms bubbles.. I got to see them make mine. It was warm and gooey and DELICIOUS!! I enjoyed it a lot!

We ended up leaving the Armory around 9:30pm and Got back to school around 12:45… I 1/2 slept for about an hour on the bus. I got back to my room and ate this before my shower:

Bunnies make everything Better 🙂

Clearly, I’m a classy college student drinking my milk out of a red Solo cup- No bigs.

So yess- welcome to the wonderful 16 Hour days of track meets! lol The past 2 meets I competed at, I did 12 jumps (with finals for long and triple) each day, as opposed to the 3 jumps I did at this meet, so it was a little different from normal. I also usually don’t have so much free time to eat so I eat my Clif Bar while jumping. I just gotta get my knee healthy so I can get back into full-caliber jumping 🙂

Ahhh classes start Monday and everyone is starting to move in now!!! It’s so crazy- I’m excited though!
Have a good weekend everyone!

An Edible House Contest & A Scavenger Hunt

Helllo Everyone! Thank you all soooo much for being so nice about my knee injury the other day, it meant a lot! 🙂 It’s actually a little better, I’ve just been icing a lot and trying to stay off it as much as possible. The past 3 days have been so busy, and right now I am currently packing spikes, clothes, and food for the track meet I’m going to tomorrow (I’m also trying to find good songs to buy on iTunes- so if anyone has any good music suggestions, Hollerrrrr!)

First of All, like I said in my last post, My friends and I had an Edible House Contest 2 nights ago, and it was SO much fun! We were given about 2 hours to make our houses out of whatever materials we could find in our 20 Minute Wal-Mart trip with a $20 Budget. A bunch of our guy friends had a list of criteria to judge from (Edibleness, Creativity, etc.)… And my team ended up winning (wooo!) We then all got to pig out on the wonderful houses afterwards and everyone had a really good time :)… Here are some pictures for your foodie-viewing pleasure:

The 3 Teams at Wal-Mart before the 20 Minute Race Through the store (Me, Lauren, and My friend Gail)

Some of our Materials

Working on the House

(Frosting Coasted Graham Crackers for the walls, Pretzels and a chocolate bar for the moat, Cones covered with Chocolate Shell for the castle-y look on top of Cool Whip coated cupcakes, Confectionery Sugar/water frosting with sprinkles for the icy-ground, Cool whip mixed with Blue Jell-O for the water, surrounded by marshmellows)

80% of our houses had to be Edible- and since EVERYTHING in our house was edible, we ended up getting a plastic alligator for $1 and throwing him in the moat… he was a nice touch 🙂 :

Gator Guarding our Castle

My team and our House: We made cupcakes and put oreos on the side (to bribe the judges, clearly hehe)

The “After” Pictures are basically all the houses being demolished and eaten, which is all so sad so I decided to spare Y’all 🙂 haha
These are the other 2 houses:

The Beach Bungalo

The Doll House

Sorry none of this is “Health Foodie Worthy” haha- but its food, right?! (And I had an amazing time which is what matters 🙂 )

Anywho- So Yesterday, a huge group of people from my track team (50+) had a Scavenger Hunt! This was also a lot of fun- there were 10 teams (10 cars)- My team had 6 people in a 2 door car… RIDICULOUSLY SQUISHED!! haha but it was still a lot of fun (regardless of us coming in second-to-last…)

Basically, the 5 page list included clues like doing plyos on the outdoor track in your underwear, Chinese fire drills, A picture that appears that 2 team members are naked in the shower together, etc.

Here’s one of the tasks I took part in…

Give an ATOMIC WEDGIE to a teammate... (yes, I have no shame...)

I wish I could show you more but I don’t want to put pictures up from other people on my team without their permission, ya knowwwww?

Oh, And we also had to switch clothing with a teammate of the opposite sex, and the girls had to draw beards on their faces resembling that of one of our team captains:

Dana and I rocking out BEARDS and MEN'S CLOTHING: Ask me if I mind it...

Have you ever been in a scavenger hunt? If so, What’s the craziest thing you’ve had to do?? I don’t know if I’ve ever had to do anything too crazy, but I’ve definitely done a lot of funny stuff (uh, see above.)

I’ve had a lot of fun over the past few days, and with the meet tomorrow, we’ve been practicing and lifting a lot to prepare for it all as well. Between meet prep, and everything I’ve been doing, I never have time to be bored… which i loveeee, but it’s gonna be so nice getting back into the swing of things when classes start on Monday(ahhh!!) Hopefully then, I can figure out a designated blogging-time so I have more time to read all your lovely blogs 🙂 and work on my own!

Have a wonderful night everyone!! 🙂

Alllll over the place

HELLO! I have missed you all so much 🙂
Like the title of this post says- Everything lately has been all over the placeI have been all over the place (hence why it’s been a few days since my last post!)…So in the spirit of things being all over the place (I wonder how many times I can say that…)-I’ll try to recap you on my life, my food, and my activities within the last few days (which as been, well… all over the place) !

Saturday– We had our track meet WOO! I did pretty well but it wasn’t too competitive of a meet so it was hard to get as psyched up as I would have wanted to be prior to jumping… My knee was also super aggravated 😦 so I stopped jumping after my first jump in triple jump finals to play it safe. I’ve been icing and such so hopefully It’ll be better as soon as possible so I’m okay for our next meet this Friday 🙂
Sunday, We had practice 8x200s the day after the meet, ugh… at least they were “tempo pace”… Dana and I made pasta and pasta sauce… Delicioso! (No pics tho :/)… we also started making a scavenger hunt list for the SCAVENGER HUNT we will be having tomorrow (there WILL be pics of this, though!) Have you ever had a scavenger hunt? If so, any good ideas??
Monday We had practice again, I didn’t do a lot of the jumping stuff because of my knee, so I was really frustrated and we lifted after… I’m sure if you have ever had an injury preventing you from fully doing a work out, you’ve been frustrated too! I ended up using the leftover pasta sauce and concocting Dinner for myself: I sautéed garlic, onions, zucchini, and squash in olive oil and mixed it with sauce and black beans… it was sooo good and sooo easy and quick:)

Today I finished the 2nd season of Gossip Girl! (woo!) I know, I’m behind, but I’m working on it ;)… AND we went upstairs to listen to a few of my friends on the team play guitar/drums etc.. (it was so loud you could hear it throughout the dorm) and my TRACK COACH was playing the guitar with 2 of the boys on the team!!! (It was so funny that our coach was in our dorm building hahah)
Other than that, we did some grocery shopping

Today's Purchases

I also saw a Pomelo in real life for the first time. And since I’ve seen a few bloggies have enjoyed these babies- I needed to get myself one 🙂

Pomelo... HUGE.

Tonight’s Plans include an EDIBLE HOUSE CONTEST. Yes, this is gonna be great :)- We have to create houses out of food- we have $20 and 20 minutes in the supermarket and 1 1/2 hours to create edible houses… I will definitely take pics and fill you all in- this is such a foodie activity, so I figured you’d all appreciate it 😉 hehe…

Other snacks/food I have enjoyed lately are:

Apple Oats with Baby Food

Baby food Apples 🙂

Food always looks prettier with natural sunlight 🙂

“Pumpkin Pie” WITH Oikos, AB, and Annie’s Graham Bunnies

Why hello there, food porn.

Bunnies Exposed: UpClose&Personal

I also purchased one of the coolest things ever (okay maybe not, but still cool)…

Brown Paper Bag or Insulated Amazingness?!

Yup- This Thermos bag looks like the Standard All-American Lunch Bag, but in reality, it’s an insulated lunch bag… scoree:) I love it, it’ll keep my veggies and sandwiches cold!

Alright, I’m off to eat dinner and engineer an edible house (so pumped!)
Hopefully I’ll post tomorrow to let you all know how the house building goes!!!
I’ll leave you all with the song that Lauren and I have been obsessed with lately

(Oh, and the fact that the video happens in a supermarket makes it 10x better!)

What happens when we don’t have class…

Helllo:) I’ve been MIA for the past few days… BUT I’ve given into the Blog-Obsession of the GREEN MONSTER! It wasn’t too bad! (I definitely tasted the spinach, though!) I just mixed frozen spinach, a banana, milk, and yogurt. Next time I’m going to try adding vanilla protein powder. Does anyone have any suggestions on what else to add (berries?)? Lauren also tried one- she added cookies & cream protein powder, & wasn’t too crazy about it- but I think she got used to it… hehe
Anyways, this is what mine looked like:

VERY Green

Other recent activities that don’t include eating have been Practicing &Lifting (clearly), Hard Core games of Mini-Golf throughout the Hallways, Nerf Gun Wars,(Dana bought bowling yesterday on yet another supermarket trip- so we’ll have to do that soon), cooking, chatting, and going out to Din Din… Last night we went to Olive Garden with a couple of the sophomore girls on the team (pictures are of course always included)

My lovely gorgeous friends 🙂

When we got there- I was starving and I attacked the salad, had a bread stick, and ate this with a side of whole wheat pasta and marinara sauce

Ma DinDin: Venetian Apricot Chicken... SO GOOD- completely reccomended

But of course, a lot of the fun happened AFTER HOURS…

Me, Lauren, and Dana with (Dana and I with our snuggies, clearly), and Nerf Guns... ya dig?

We then watched the Double Episodes of Jersey Shore with a whole bunch of people, and we of course had to dress the part… (Did anyone else watch it??)- And I know I’ve mentioned the show in a lot of the posts- I’m not obsessed, i swear, it’s just so much fun!!!! hehe

Kaitlin, Me, and Lauren watching Jersey Shore with our Poofs and Sunglasses

I made this post fast because I didn’t have a lot of time :/, but since I haven’t been on here in a while and missed it, I decided I’d give a quick update! I realized that it is SUPER hard to balance everything (I don’t know what I’m gonna do when school starts!)- I would love if all you bloggies out there answered a quick question-How do you balance blogging with school/socializing/working out/ other activities that you do?! Thanks a lot guys!

I’m off to practice and we have our first official meet tomorrow! So pumped:)
Have a great Friday!

Supermarket Shenanigans!

Good Afternoon, Blogettes:), I hope everyone is having a wonderful Tuesday! I also hope that you all enjoyed the tour of my room yesterday- I just wanted to show you all how I’m living so you know my atmosphere, etc.- yaaaa knowwww.
Like I said in yesterday’s post, I had my first track practice back at school!
It consisted of:
1/2 Hour Warmup
1 Hour Jumping Drills (into the pit, alternate leg bounding, etc.,etc.) and 6x100m tempo pace
~50 Min. Weight Room
15 Minutes ABs
15 Minutes Stretching
= 3 Hours of Practice (Nice to get back into the swing of things :))
Snack Between Practice and Weight Room was this:

Navel Orange: I like eating these in between because it makes me more energized while lifting

After the ABs:

CLIF Bar for some Protein/Carbs after my lift

And now onto a Confession: I have an addiction to supermarkets.
Granted, I’m sure you all foodies understand me perfectly (which makes me feel a little better) but really- I went to the store 2 DAYS AGO with my parents who bought me a great deal of food (noted in the post a few days ago), and Then I go again today and do the same thing… I don’t know how I do it, I really don’t, especially on a college student budget. Regardless, Dana, Lauren and I had an AMAZING (no exaggeration) time at Wegman’s yesterday, which of course was completely documented by a series of pictures for your viewing pleasure…

We got to Wegman’s, hungry and ready to eat some Dinner- Unfortunately, the Channa Masala I was craving was no longer at the hot food bar (probably because it was already 8:00 and they were shutting down the food area) Instead, Lauren and I opted for some HUGEEEEEE burritos.

2 POUNDS of burrito-y goodness

I figured I would only eat 1/2 of it, so I cut it:

Whole wheat tortilla with grilled chicken, black beans, corn, peppers&onions, and guacamole

Clearly, I was kidding myself (I can’t just eat 1/2 of something- I have no self control/moderation factor)

My burrito was accompanied with some delicious roasted brussel sprouts:

After eating, we unleashed ourselves and went onto the foooooood>>>>>

Of course there were very many perverted pictures and jokes involving butternut squash, sweet potatoes, etc. which I opted not to include here- yeah, we are so mature.

[Insert: Lauren’s, “Mine is Bigger than Your’s” joke here]

Dana and Lauren Fighting with sweet potatoes

Dana and I came across $700 Mushrooms!!!!! WHAT?!?!!??!?!??!

The apple that Dana ate while shopping that was Cockblocking her from the vegetables haha

We spent about 15 minutes picking out bananas (it’s very a exact science… you can’t pick too many green ones because then you won’t have any for the next day, and you can’t pick too many yellow ones, because if you average 1/day, they aren’t gonna be the ripeness you want them to be in a week)… ya feel me?

Dana and her 2lb. Carrot Baby

After our produce excursions, we spent a very long time in the baby food isle…

some pretty weird flavors...

DEFINITELY not putting this in my Oatmeal...

Speaking of Oatmeal- Does anyone remember this stuff:

Long Before the Days of bananas and cinnamon: (the beginning of the Oatmeal-Addiction)

Rockin' the apron

After our 4 Hours of supermarket loveee:

My Purchases

Good stuff : Has anyone spent a ridiculously long time in the supermarket just because there’s so much to explore?! This wasn’t my first time, nor will it be my last ;)…

Things to Note:
1. Disclaimer- This was clearly not all the food I ate today, but this Supermarket Trip couldn’t go undocumented haha
2. 140oz. of water was consumed today: Didn’t feel like it at all, thought I drank a lot less but I guess because I had practice, I didn’t realize
3. How Do You feel about COOKBOOK GIVEAWAYS?!- Eat Move Love is hosting a GIVEAWAY<<< Click it:)

What are your plans for the rest of the day?
I’m Off to Practice! Have a great day 🙂

Welcome to my room:)

Hello bloggies! Today is Monday and it marks the first (official) day of In-Season Training! wooo! I had practice at 1:00-4:00 earlier today- it was great lifting in the weight room and jumping with my team (in a sandpit- wooo!) Anyways- I decided I would start this post by giving you all a tour of my room (it’s like Crib’s– Bloggie-Style). As athletes we get super nice suites (not to brag, but I kinda am…) I live with 5 other girls on the track team (Sara, Amanda, Lauren(roomie), Dana(foodie accomplice), Liz)

(Sara, Amanda, Lauren, Dana, Liz, Me)

Everyone is awesome and gets along really well (not to mention that everyone is pretty clean, so it doesn’t get dirty- major plus!)

Common Room

Our Door: Yes, Lauren blew up a poster-size pic of ourselves in bathingsuits... perfectly fine. (And the door writing is in Dry-Erase marker so it comes off)

My side of the room:)

Point of Interest #1: I am OBSESSED with this Got Milk Ad with Dara Torres- I have an index card with INSPIRATION written over it- I want those Abssssss! haha

Point of Interest #2: I love this picture of Marilyn Monroe lifting weights- To me it says that you can me feminine AND jacked all at the same time 🙂

I hope you all enjoyed my little tour:)
Now onto FOOOOOOD>>>>>>

Breakfast started out as 16 oz water, 12oz tea, 1/2 cup oats, 1 cup milk, pumpkin butter, sunflower seed butter, Craisins, and some yogurt and cinnamon

Oatie CloseUp

I only had 1/2 cup because a few of my friends and I went to go to the pool (I didn’t wanna swim on a full stomach)- I did triple jump drills in the water, they are a little hard but feel really good 🙂

Lunch was a turkey sammie with carrots and hummus, 16 oz. of water

After this, 16oz of water was consumed, along with an orange and a Nature Valley Bar… I was also reunited with Peppermint tea 🙂

Best. Flavor. Ever.

I love this stuff soo much! It’s CAFFEINE FREE Green Tea+ it tastes amazing!!

**I really wasn’t hungry for a while after this- my appetite today was weird- I wasn’t nearly as hungry as I was yesterday**

Snack-22oz Water + Greek Yogurt/ Cinnamon covered Protein Cookie Dough Amazingness

Dinnerr- 18 oz water 2 Egg Omelet with LOTS OF Mushrooms and Onions(Sautéed with Olive Oil) & a Sweet Potato

Cute little Omlet in my Omlet Pan 🙂

At the end of the pan- Isn't it so cute!? haha

Late Night Snacks included Trader Joe’s Crackers & a 100 Cal Bag of Kettle Corn (yum!) and 28oz of water

Nice full flaxseeds in my crackers- goooodstuff.

Earlier- I was blogging looking at all y’alls pages and saw Naner Softserve on This Girl’s Page and IMMEDIATELY craved it and threw a banana in the freezer…

Naner Softserve mixed with walnuts, cinnamon, and 1/4 C. Fage

Soo the water (+tea) total was 140oz– A little over a gallon.. I didn’t feel as hungry as yesterday and I drank a little bit more water (and kinda worked out in the morning!) hmm things to think about- I’m still in the trying-to-find-out-the-perfect-amount-of-water process ,but this is definitely helping!
Have a great rest of your Monday!

Including the H2o

Hellooo everyonee:) Happy Sunday! I’d like to start off by saying thanks for the suggestions of what to cook over break- I’m always up for more, so if anyone knows any quick, easy, healthy recipes, send ’em my way!! 🙂

I’ve decided that from now on, I’m going to try to include my water consumption each day. I’ve noticed the most changes in my body depend on whether or not i’m drinking too much, too little, or just the right amount of water. In fact, last year at the beginning of second semester, I was drinking over 2 GALLONS of water Every day– I would drink 32 oz. with breakfast, 32 oz. in my first class (1 hour long), more with the rest of my classes, more with lunch, more during practice, dinner, and after dinner! I remember gulping down water like crazy. Not to mention I had to PEE every 5 minutes, and woke up every night in the middle of the night just to go pee (alright, TMI, sorry guys!). I assumed that because I was sweating out water, and competing, I needed that much, when really, that was far from true. It turned out I was draining my electrolytes causing me to be more sluggish than I should have been. It also bloated me like crazy! I didn’t realize any of this until a friend of mine commented on the insane amounts of water I was drinking and suggested I cut down (haha- doesn’t sound like I’m talking about water…) I then decided I would start only drinking when I actually wanted water, or was thirsty (go figure!), bringing me down to about a Gallon a day. Immediately within 2 weeks, I noticed a difference: I started feeling so much more energized at practice and even lost about 10 lbs. of water weight!
I started jumping better as well, and noticed I was less hungry because (I assume) my stomach shrank because I wasn’t drinking SO much water! Right now, I’m trying to find a happy medium. Being at home, I was drinking less than I normally do at school, So I figure For Myself (and so I can look back on training)- I’m going to include my water consumption in my daily posts.
(disclaimer- listen to your own body- don’t let my water drankage affect you, I was just telling my story 🙂 haha)

Anyways, thanks for letting me rant- ON TO YESTERDAY’S FOOOOOOD>>>>>>

BREAKFAST: Apple Pie Oats:)
TO START: I soaked apples in apple cinnamon tea for 10 minutes with some cinnamon for them to start cooking, and to soak in the flavor:

Apple Soakage

Apple Pie Oats with a side of sunshine 🙂

Tied together with:
1/2 C. Oat bran
1 1/2 C. Apple Cinnamon Tea
Splash of Milk
1 Apple
Apple Pie Spice, Cinnamon, Vanilla
1 TBSP Pumpkin Butter (for sweetness:))
1/2 C. Yogurt
2 TBSP. Almond Butter

This was Delicious!! I’m used to It was accompanied with 24oz. of Water.
I then did stuff around the suite, and sat on my booty playing on my computer for a while, ( and I drank 16oz of water)

I was planning on going for a little run just to move around and loosen my muscles so I ate this before:

Yay Thomas's Bagels!

& a baby apple.

I then got myself spandex-ed up:

Spandexxxxxed & ready to go (note new Under Armor bottoms= amazing. 🙂 )

(clearly I was bored because I took a picture)
Anyways, I went outside, nice and bundled and I ran for 3 minutes. Yup thats right, 3 minutes. IT was SOOO COLD! I forgot how bitter cold Upstate New York gets in January. Ha! Whatta joke. So I ran my butt right inside- much better (&warm) :). Have you ever started a run and then realized it was NOT what you wanted to be doing and ran back inside? I think I’ve done this about 3 times before… If you don’t wanna do it, give yo bod a rest! I then decided I would just stretch, shower, and call it a day:)

After all that- I sat down to have this yogurty goodness:
1/2 C. Fage Greek Yogurt
1/2 C. TJ’s banana cluster cereal
1/2 Banana
PB/ Protein Powder mixture

Yogurt concoction all Mixed together with some Protein Cookie Dough

Closeup of cinnamon topped bananas=Food porn?

I then decided I would conquer the first few episodes of Jersey Shore. That was certainly successful. I got 3 down yesterday, woo! Good stuff… Ronnie’s a hottie:)

Look at himmmm, flexxing &such!... Get him somee

I noticed that as I was laying down on my bed staring at my computer, I got REALLY HUNGRY. This has happened before- but I don’t understand while laying down(only while watching TV) makes me so hungry! I sat up and I was fine, and the hunger went away, but it was so strange! Does anyone know why this happened/ Has this ever happened to anyone? Or am I just weird? Probably that… whatevvvvv.

Dinner was started with an appetizer of Roasted Brussel Sprouts and accompanied with 20oz of water

And I had a (overly cooked) grilled chicken salad with some brown rice

And nighttime snacks included:

1/2 C. attempted-to-be-but-not-so-frozen Fage with 1/2 banana, a little almond butter

Finished off a bag of Pretzel thins along with some Hummus

and 18 oz. of water thru the night.

So Water Total:
24+16+16+16+20+8+10= 110 oz. of water (which is a little less than a gallon, not including water in the tea this morning, or liquid in food- and no workout)… Reasonable.

Anywhoo- I’m off to go watch the Basketball team hopefully win :). Have a great day everybody!

Back at School!

Hey everyone! I was gonna post last night, but after grocery shopping, unpacking, and cleaning my suite, I was pooped. Either way, I am currently back at school right now! We don’t start classes until January 25, but we come up 2 weeks early for Track and Field Training … Even though we have been training since August, we don’t actually start competing until the Winter, so our Indoor Track season starts January 16 and then we go until Outdoor Track in May… So basically now is where it kicks into High-Gear and Pre-Season is COMPLETE. Practices actually start Monday, So I’m awaiting my WONDERFUL Roomies return tomorrow!! So basically these next 2 weeks consist of going to Track Practice/Lifting for a couple hours each day, then going back to the dorms to hardcore CHILL for the rest of the day. It’s amazing… Really, Not boring at all. Last year, we had a scavenger hunt, and me and Dana (You will all meet her tomorrow so I’m not referring to her as “My Friend, Dana” anymore, shes just Dana… same with “My Roommate, Lauren”…just Lauren) hehe:)… Anyways, me and Dana had a Prank War with the guys that lived next door to us: guys shaved their heads, shaving cream was legitimately everywhere, and the end result was a decent sized snowman outside the boys’ door . Good Times…

Cute, Aint he?

Oh, and I almost forgot the best part! We get to COOK (No dining halls open) for the next 2 weeks, so Dana and I will be cooking bloggie-inspired food for the next 2 weeks- We love everyones recipes! So we are super pumped:) Does anyone have any suggestions on Easy, Fun to make, Delicious, & Healthy foods we can make? We have 14 Days of Experimentation and are TOTALLY Up for suggestions!!

ANYWAYS, enough of that and on to FOOD:)
The last few days have been pretty hectic so I haven’t had a full day of food to record- So I’m just gonna post pictures of some of the yummy things that I have eaten since the last time I posted…

1. I tried Steel Cut Oats!– Never had them before, and not too shabby! I got the quick ones from Trader Joe’s, but they were still good… very nutty flavor to them.

2. Had overnight oats for the first time in a Month. AMAZING. What can I say- these never let me down…ever. I always let them chill overnight will Greek Yogurt, Cinnamon, and a Banana- then add everything else in the morning. This time they were Ultra- Banana-y because I added TJ’s Banana Cluster Cereal, which by the way, is PHENOMENAL.

Overnight-Soaked Goodness:)

3. An amazing trip to Wegman’s Fresh Food Bar (Blanched Broccoli and Cauliflower, Red Peppers, and My FAV Indian dish- Channa Masala with un-pictured Brown Rice)

Cellular Pic

4. Accompanied with a lovely trip to Wegman’s

ahhhhh!! (Cue Heavenly Choir Music)

My desk at la escuela con lotsa delicious food… Hopefully all of this will feed me for the next 2 weeks, but we shall see! Theres cans of beans, veggies, delicious bready products, hummus, 3 pounds of apples, and huge Tub of Fage (So long, Chobani, you will be missed!)

Speaking of Chobani, (Is this like a commercial or what!?!), Katie over at Faith, Food & Fitness is Hosting a Chobani Giveaway!! Get on that!!

Alrighty, well I am off to check out what everyone else has been eating, then I will be spending most of the day catching up on my Jersey Shore deprivation… Oh the greatness of trashy reality Television. I love the 21st Century:)
